Shelves2Drawers: Inside the Process

Allowing a stranger in your home to make changes can seem intimidating, and we get it! If you have a few hesitations or questions about what the Shelves2Drawers process is like, this blog post is for you. One of our clients generously gave us permission to document their consultation, installation, and photograph some before and after photos!

The Consultation

The home was a brand-new build in northern Colorado. The consultation was scheduled just days before the family was to move in, so the home builders were mostly finished. This is an optimal time for Shelves2Drawers to visit the home, talk with the homeowners regarding their items and organization needs, and then collect measurements for the cabinets that would be quoted.

We schedule free consultations whenever works best for you. For this family, it was a Wednesday evening. Tyler and Jim of Shelves2Drawers visited the home and talked with the family about how they organize their kitchen items, gave them suggestions on where to place commonly used items versus less frequently used appliances, and then collected measurements for the cabinets. Options were also presented to the family such as soft close drawers and the color choices for trash cans (to be installed in the cabinet next to the sink).

To complete the consultation, Tyler printed out the itemized estimate and reviewed with the family that changes could be made easily with a simple email or phone call. There is never any pressure to commit to the project on the spot; we’ll give you time to discuss what drawers will work best for your home and your needs.

The Installation

Once you decide on the drawers you’d like, we’ll begin production! This family opted to move forward with the kitchen drawers and production of the drawers began at our manufacturing warehouse in Frederick, Colorado.

Just two weeks after the consultation, the family’s drawers were ready for install. Installation typically takes just one day, depending on the size of the project.  This install was complete in just two hours.

Seth, one of Shelves2Drawers installers, came out to the home, removed the existing shelves, and installed the drawers one cabinet at a time. He even gave suggestions on moving a taller stock pot to another drawer to allow for more height and storage space in another cabinet. The wife was particularly excited about her baking sheet drawer, which will help to keep muffin tins and baking sheets easily accessible while she bakes holiday treats!

Before and After

The ease of organization this family is now able to experience is unmatched! Seth helped them to place all their items into the drawers after they were installed, so now just a few days after moving into their new home, everything has its own place and there won’t be any digging to find that pan or lid.
